Kent demonstrated evaluative annotations by providing the genre of each source which develops all of his ideas that are used by explaining to the reader where he got each of his sources from. Kent has a great way of summarizing his sources, thus further explaining to the reader how it relates to the topic, persuading them to agree with his argument. It also provides Kent's overall review over how useful the work cited is to him.

In Kent's exploratory essay he leaves out important information that would lead the reader to take a different side other than his own. It strictly shows specific ideas that make the reader believe that there should be mandatory volunteering for the youth, based on the personal experience that is given from Kent
