2.4 Eulogy- Che Guevara
Che, you the liberator of our dear Cuban people, lie here today before us. So long after those cowardly bastards killed you in cold blood. You, Che, who always encouraged us in times of need. Even though you did not even hail from our homeland, yet you fought alongside us. You were born on June 14th 1928 as Ernesto Guevara in Rosario, Argentina, to well a well situated family. But you always had an affinity for the poor and the weak and died so young. You, like Camilio, left us so suddenly and tragically . Che, you who out of all of us believed so strongly in the revolution. I remember a time when you said , “ The revolution is not an apple that falls when it is ripe. Well, I say to you now, we will never stop believing in socialism or in you, and in the power that you radiated. Even if we had our differences during and after the revolution. We will not remember your pitfalls, but only your strengths and our high points, so that we will not shame your legacy. We will punish those that did hid you from us for so long, burying you in an unmarked grave, in a place where even a man with no honor should not be buried. But, Che, if you can hear us up there, we will make up for this by providing you with all the honour. With a proper burial a man like you deserves, something you were denied for so long. Please forgive all our sins and disagreements. It does not matter now, we forgive you. Please forgive us too, Che. There is only love, Che, only love. You will forever be our nation’s hero and idol. So on October 17th 1997, you will be buried here, in Santa Clara, Cuba, for the last time and this time for good. So we, all the Cuban people, will continue your legacy.
