Companies use this device by getting someone of good character to promote their product. An example of this device would be “Kevin Hart, Kanye West & Kim Kardashian MTV VMA Commercial”. It starts off with Kevin Hart in the bathroom getting ready asking someone off the screen something. When he does not get an answer he walks out of the bathroom to get Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s attention. They ask him why he is dressed up and he answers, he is hosting the VMA awards and has to look nice for the paparazzi. Another sample of ethos would be the “Madden NFL 17” commercial. The ad starts with the X-box sign appears then Von Miller, a line-backer for the Denver Broncos, is on the screen as if he is in a KYLE music video with different looks from different places, but a Justin Bieber instrumental is playing while Miller is freestyling about all the things he has done and still can do in his career if he is a starting player. The purpose of ethos advertisements is to make the consumer want a product if their favorite celebrity is fond of it. It is like the band-wagoning, but instead of going with what everyone is doing, you are doing whatever the celebrity is
