On the poster, it has the quote “United We Stand, Divided We Fall.” This quote foreshadows the two main characters going through something to divide them. It is a very powerful image showcasing the various emotions between the two groups of heroic figures.

The imagery connects to the film at the part when Captain America and Iron Man split up and have their own squads to fight against each other, but at the end of the movie they reunite as one team. The imagery in this movie cover is made to draw suspense from the audience. The fur industry has been part of American society even before there was a United States of America. The fur trade likely started when Hudson’s Bay Company was incorporated in 1670 (Dyhouse) and has continued to this day. While fur fashion trends have changed over the years, ranging from felted beaver hats in the mid-19th century, to hats trimmed with whole birds and stuffed kitten heads in the early 20th century, to today’s mink coats, one thing has remained the same; that every piece of fur clothing has come from an animal that was killed for it (Dyhouse). Because of concerns about causing animals to become extinct, furbearing animals have been raised on farms since just after the Civil War (Dyhouse, “Fur Farming in North America”).…

Daniel J. Flynn’s argument of why “Football Does a Body Good” is extremely unconvincing. The evidence that he presents throughout the essay fails to debunk the counterargument of how dangerous football can be. The essay is full of statistics and examples of how football can positively benefit the readers- unfortunately all the facts that are shown are ineffective. He unsuccessfully argues toward the benefit of football by failing to present appeals to reason, having a lack in his credibility, and having a biased and argumentative tone for the duration of his essay. Aristotle’s three proofs are logos, ethos, and pathos.…

The most important rhetorical appeal, in communicating and accepting ideas, would be logos, the primary method which analyzes the problem by using facts and arguments to support ones claim. For instance, in the article “Persuasion” the writer mentions that “[…] decisions based upon the consideration of evidence and the comparison of conflicting arguments are likely to be better than those made under the spell of overpowering emotion” (? 1). This quote supports my claim because it explains how emotions barricade your brain from generating logical decisions while evidence aids you to process the information and form your own thoughts. When a speaker uses emotional appeals simply for the sake of clouding the audience’s decision making process is influences them to form irrational choices.…

Therefore, by using this light contrast, the viewer, without being familiar with the Avengers, or the fact that the poster is for a superhero movie, is able to see that the movie will be over a group of good individuals, presumably standing up against the forces evil. In fact, the viewer will easily see that all of the characters in the poster are armed and are prepared to fight, so he or she can reasonably infer, that the movie will be over a conflict between good and evil. This conflict naturally draws on the conscience of the viewer and his or her thoughts go out for the residence of the burning city that is seen on the edges of the poster. The viewer immediately begins wishing for the cities relief from the evil doers grasp and wants to see good restored once again. Potter shows the Avengers as the ones who will…

Pathos is the most important part of the rhetorical argument because it truly expresses the feelings of the writer to the audience and easily allows them to absorb the material due to the emotion filled with writing. Pathos is defined as the power of speech, literature, and other forms of expression of evoking a feeling of sympathy and compassion from the reader. The essay will demonstrate how the effective use of pathos will strengthen arguments. Pathos is the strongest of the three rhetorical arguments because it reveals the emotions of the writer, it convinces the audience of the arguments of the author through emotions, and it can acquire the desired reaction more easily.…

Throughout all the years of history discrimination has existed and over time it has been observed that the only way of fighting to stop this discrimination is by doing it peacefully. The director of X-men Two Bryan Singers portrays a serious message about fighting discrimination peacefully.
