Diversity in the Workplace
As the workforce demographics shift and global markets emerge, diversity is becoming a necessity instead an idea that companies use to show their commitment to embracing differences and change within the workplace.

Companies should provide employees with the skills that are necessary for running a multicultural environment. By doing this it allows them to understand their culture plus the culture of the employees they work with.
One company that shows a great and innovative way of incorporating diversity is American Airlines. They do several different plans and programs to make diversity a big part of the company. One being they have a day for different culture

They view diversity as a broad term to help build a workplace that brings people from all different races, ages, backgrounds, experiences, lifestyles and ethnic groups. Disney also is led by an Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resource Officers, they help lead all of their sites and employees in a diversity leadership council. The Diversity Leadership Council is made to talk about issues, trends and recommendations, and to develop diversity and inclusion strategies (Disney Workplace, 2010). Disney also partners with Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs). MWBEs is which is a showcase business run by women and minority owned …show more content…
This past year, Apple looked at the total compensation for U.S. employees and closed the gaps they found. Apple is now analyzing the salaries, bonuses, and annual stock grants of all our employees worldwide. If a gap exists, we’ll address it. And we’ll continue our work to make sure we maintain pay equity. “Within the past year they have made it so a women make earn one dollar for every dollar a male employees earn. Along with them fixing the wage gap for women they did the same for underrepresented minorities. Underrepresented minorities now earn one dollar for every dollar a white worker makes” (Inclusion and Diversity).

By following and applying these tools and programs it will incorporate diversity much easier. There is no single approach that works best to achieve diversity in the workplace. However, to obtain top management support, integrating diversity must be integrated into all aspects of the company, not just the part dealing with diversity or just certain events dealing with diversity.
