Basic of discrimination
In my essay I will be talking about discriminatory practice in health and social care. There are several types of discriminatory practice in my essay I will include cultural, disabilities, age, social class, sexuality, gender. And also include the discriminatory practice which include infringement of rights, covert or overt abuse of power, prejudice, stereotyping, and also bullying. I will start of by talking about all the basis of discrimination.

Example of this is that the person is unable to do their daily activity and struggle to carry out doing their daily activities. Disability discrimination take place when a person who is disabled is treated less favourable than others who do not have a physical disability. If an individual person is discriminated it could have an effect on them physically, emotionally and also mentally which leads to having low self-esteem, also less confidents in themselves and might not want to socialise with others which leads to isolating themselves from others. They would think that they are not equal as everyone else who are not disabled. An example of disability discrimination practice in a health and social care environment is that a staff member may help an individual who does not have any disabilities with intellectual activities such as crosswords, puzzles and word search in a residential care home. However if a service user has a mental disability the staff member may not see it fit to help this individual with activities as they might not understand the puzzles. This can lead to the service user having low self-esteem as they are not being supported with their condition. In the long term it can lead to depression as the service user may feel alone, rejected and have less trust in the staff …show more content…
Bullying can affect an individual mentally, emotionally and also physically for example if an employee is bullying the other staff because of how they look, religion they follow or their race, and also because of their own personality it can make them feel bad about themselves, feel insecure around people, stressed and depressed which leads them to hating themselves because of who they are. Getting abused by other member of staff van affect them which could also lead to health problem, also could lead to worsening their health, more stress, depression, and also scared to going to work. This is why it is important that everyone is treated fairly not bullied, care everyone not bully them because of the fact that people are vulnerable and should always be treated equally at all times no matter where they
