In conclusion, In order to understand how our food is digested, there are various process that occur between absorption and the final utilation of nutrients by the body’s cells, and besides our mechanical digestion which is chewing, there is also a chemical digestion which from my results it is really important. Everything starts from the mouth in which salivary amylase is an enzyme produced by the salivary glands. This enzyme starts digestion by convertion food into maltose.
Moreover, in the experiment digestion of triglycerides, I saw the effect of pancreatic juice on triglycerides by the use of pancreatin, which contains all the enzymes present in the pancreatic juice. The enzyme used in this test was pancreatic lipase, which digest triglycerides

The aim was not met as the results were not valid because of the errors that had occurred during the experiment. The hypothesis stated that the amylase will break down the starch into simple sugars, and it will leave the dialysis tubing into the surrounding water, and that the 25oc cylinders will create better results as the 60oc cylinders will denature the enzyme. The hypothesis was not supported but as the results were not valid, the hypothesis was not refuted either. To determine if the hypothesis was supported or not accurately means that the experiment needs to be done again without errors. The results could not be used as findings as they were not accurate of how amylase performs in the body.…

Next, I added one drop of Biuret solution into each tube. Then, I recorded the result, if the substance changed purple then it contained proteins. Only stomach two and three had a positive trace of protein.…

Chemical digestion involves breaking down the food into simpler nutrients that can be used by the cells. Chemical digestion begins in the mouth when food mixes with saliva. Saliva contains an enzyme that begins the breakdown of carbohydrates. Pharynx: • Also called the throat, the pharynx is the portion of the digestive tract that receives the food from your mouth. Branching off the pharynx is the oesophagus, which carries food to the stomach, and the trachea or windpipe, which carries air to the…

Oxaloacetate, found in the mitochondrion, is a four-carbon molecule. In this project we performed a Bradford Assay and an SDH (Succinate Dehydrogenase) Assay. The goal of this project was to work with enzymes to gain a better understanding of how enzymes function and how they are impacted with the introduction of a variety of factors. A significant part of the experiment was determining the protein concentration of the prepared mitochondrial fraction which will be further explained.…

When a blank containing boiled (denatured) enzyme instead of an active enzyme could be used but it would not be the better blank to use in this experiment. The better blank solution would have been the one with active enzyme because it would cause the spectrophotometer to measure the absorbance of every component in the blank except the substrate, creating a 100% transmittance. This allow the spectrophotometer to read everything that was not in the blank when the actual sample is inserted in because it would “blank” out all the components in the “blank” solution and only read the “uncommon” component. With the active enzyme, the spectrophotometer would “blank” out the enzyme and only read the substrate absorbance because according to the lab…

74-75) explained that an integral factor in enzymatic digestion is the pH of individual sections of the digestive tract. The highly acidic pH of the stomach’s gastric juice is needed to not only prevent bacterial growth, but to create an optimal environment for it’s enzymes to digest the food (now chyme) received through the cardioesophageal sphincter. The small intestine cannot handle such high pH, therefore when the stomach releases chyme into the small intestines, a signal is sent to the pancreas to release an alkaline substance called “sodium bicarbonate” to neutralize the chime’s acidic pH. Once neutralized, enzyme-rich pancreatic juices (neutral pH) work together with the enzymes of the cells found in the intestinal wall to facilitate digestion of the “three energy nutrients”. Bile (neutral pH) is secreted into the duodenum from the gallbladder (or liver-if someone is without the gallbladder) to emulsify fat for later absorption.…

INTRODUCTION: Indigestion is difficulty digesting food; it causes pain or discomfort in the stomach. Most commonly, people suffer from indigestion by overeating, drinking alcohol while eating, or eating greasy, fried or spicy foods. Acid in the stomach helps digest food and prevents infection. Mucus lines the stomach, bowel and oesophagus and acts as a barrier against the acid.…
