Journal #4 This journal is a response to the ending of the novel Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Bronte. The story concludes with Jane returning to Thornfield, learning that it has been burned down for months by Bertha Mason where she died. She also finds out that Mr. Rochester, whom she wants to marry, went blind, lost a hand, and now lives in Ferndean. She then travels and finds Rochester who proclaims his love for her and they get engaged and eventually married. This is when Jane reveals that she is writing her story from ten years after she married Rochester. He regains his eyesight just in time to see the birth of his baby boy.
