“Not to be married,Not to knit my soul to an approved wanton”(Act IV.Scene i.Line 41-43). This falling out was caused by the deception of Don Jon.In Shakespeare’s play “Much ado about nothing” treachery and trickery make up the plot. Trickery and Deception are used to make the plot exciting and interesting.For example, if it wasn’t for Don Jon tricking Claudio there would be no play to read. In a special way, Shakespeare makes deception into both a good thing and a bad thing. For it had caused both the falling out of Hero and Claudio but then rebuilt their relationship to be stronger than ever.
An instance of trickery and deception happens when Don John tricks Claudio into believing that Hero is unfaithful. Borachio had deceived Claudio into thinking that he was in bed with Hero, Claudio shames Hero in the church in front of the altar, even to call her an "approved wanton," meaning a "proved whore" (Act IV.Scene i.Scene 42). This results in destroying Hero’s and her father’s reputation and causes them grief. Additionally, it led Hero to fake her death in order to save her reputation.
