Courage is one of many traits that is admirable in a person. In the novel “To Kill a Mockingbird” written by Harper Lee, the reader learns about courage from 3 characters, Mrs. Dubose, Atticus Finch, and Jean Louise Finch (Scout). Without courage, a person's moral standing will be useless and will not matter anymore. Courage is the most admirable trait in a person because without courage nothing else will have no meaning in life Courage is one of the many things it always, in any case, succeeds over anything. Courage is the most important trait most anyone could have no matter how cruel. Punishing Jem Mrs. Dubose says”[Jem] regret it now don't you.”(Pg. 146). Mrs. Dubose shows courage here by insulting someone even though she may know that she will get beat up. Another reason on why she shows courage here is because she is a morphine addict and she takes morphine and takes out her anger out on Jem and the kids because she is brave enough to. Yelling out is a very courageous choice because people might judge that person who yells out. Yelling to Atticus “H-ey, Atticus!”(Pg. 203). Even though Scout is yelling to her father, she is still being fearless because she does not care what other people think of her and knows that what she is doing is right. Fearlessness is one of the most important traits in a person because there needs to be fearless people in this world today. Standing your ground is a very fearless trait to have. Contradicting Jem “[Jem’s] gotta make [Scout] first.”(Pg. 231). Without standing your ground you lose sight of all of your goals and cannot stand for anything else in life. Another reason that scout is fearless in this is because when she tries to stand her ground Jem is a lot bigger and can force her to not stand her ground but Scout will not budge and that is true fearlessness.
