This mass suicide can be viewed as a product of obedience as Jim convinced the members of the cult to drink a poisonous Kool-Aid flavoured drink that would kill anyone within 5 minutes. The innocent citizens were complying with the orders of Jones (leader) as well as being persuaded that there was a potential threat of force from the CIA. From this it proves that the followers would follow anything that jim commanded e.g abusing women, men and children or drinking the cyanid Kool-Aid. On the night of the suicide the members who did not drink the mixture were injected/forced by armed guards as they were disobeying jim
