A teacher student relationship would be considered a form of conferred dominance because the student is voluntary handing power to the teacher. A parent and child relationship is another example because the child is giving control of the environment to the parent(s) because of the clear authoritative and superior figure in front of them. In both of these instances, the agent (student or child) is most likely younger than the teacher and the parent. From a social historical context perspective, women usually gave the power to their husbands and accepted their roles as the subordinate.
