Ascension Christian High School

Class President of 2018 Salutations to my respective peers of Ascension Christian High School. I am writing this letter to inform you that I, Madison Harris, am indeed qualified to be the class president of my class: class of 2018. This soon-to-be senior class is among one of the largest classes which will need a diligent class president to coordinate events throughout the senior year and after graduation. As a student, I know that being part of the student council is a very honorable and important duty. A class officer should have characteristics such as being equitable, extroverted, reliable, and organized. I consider myself to be a great spokesperson and relatable. Through my years of being a student, I have noticed that sitting back and listening is a great way to get the truth. Responsibilities for class president include but are not limited to: intaking concerns and/or complaints from students, ensuring that school events are well advertised, and forming a class project, and all other senior-related activities. By hosting a book drive and dressdown day, the school can raise enough money for books of many genres. Another event that should occur next year is the powder puff game. This game was a great success this year and could provide funds for another project in which the senior student body will vote

In seventh grade, I was a seventh grade representative and in eighth grade I was president of my school. I knew I had to start off small, so that I could achieve greater heights. In high school, freshmen and sophomore year I was class secretary, junior year I was co-class president, and now I am Senior Class President. I learned from my student government career that it starts off with just a small step to fall deeply in love with something that I spent most of my life with. Student government taught me to take risks by initiating change at school because it starts with me.…

As I was walking towards the door getting closer to the entrance of the NorCal Harvesting office I observed and looked at my surroundings. The weather was pleasant and windy, the birds whistling and singing a charming melody and people walking in and out of the building. For a minute, I was observing and paying close attention to my surroundings and thought to myself “How lucky am I to be here today”, I looked back and saw the big parking space that the office has which has the perfect size to organize and plan an event. Last week the team members of El Jardin and I got together and discussed the successes and challenges of the program. One of the biggest challenges and concerns of the program is analyzing why students are not showing up to the program and why is the program not becoming successful.…

First and foremost, the student body is the skeleton of our school. In order to have a functioning civil society within our school and daily lives, each students ideologies and concepts should be shared among another. Currently, there is no true democratic voice for all students as a collective. That is why I propose a system that will remove the diversity boundaries that separate us and form a common set of ethics. Think of it as a think tank, which is an organisation that performs research and advocacy concerning topics such as social policy, political strategy, economics, military, technology, and culture.…

A class president, or any presiding leader, should regard the popular interests of his or her citizens as the highest priority in their efforts. The president’s representation and loyalty to citizens serves as the foundation of America’s democracy. In the past year’s election however, the voting setup of an electoral college was met with controversy due to the fact that, though America’s popular vote chose one candidate, members of the electoral college selected the opponent. This outcome led many, including myself, to believe that the college truly does not guarantee proper representation of citizens’ desires in government. Thus, I would not endorse a similar voting process to be implemented in Orefield Middle School.…
