(A Literary Analysis of Chivalry in Excalibur)
The examples of chivalry in the movie Excalibur are strength/courage, wisdom, and duty/respect. The character Urther Pendragon wanted the Queen to himself so he met Merlin to cast a spell and make a deal with him so that Urther could disguise himself as the king so he could sleep with her for one night to distract her so that his mates could kill the king. Within the entire movie there are numerous counts that strength/courage, wisdom, and duty/respect are displayed.

The knights of the village would joust each other and whoever would win would be considered the better and more powerful one of the two and would get the chance to try and get the sword out of the rock. Urther had got put into a poor family and he was their servant. Arthur lost his brothers sword and he was up next to represent himself and his family. They sent Arther back to the tent where he had left the sword and it isn’t there. He finds the little boy that had taken it and he keeps running farther into the forest. Arthur loses him and finds the Excalibur sword on top of the hill next to the village. He panics because he lost his brothers sword so he tries to remove the sword from the rock and it comes right out. Urther doesn’t want to be king so he puts it back into the rock. The sword starts glowing so the people of the village all ran up to it and started chanting at Arthur to try again, he did and everybody freaked out because he was only a servant. Arthur had to step up because he knew that they needed a king and he felt that he could do and be the best that he
