I arrived at the nursery gates late for my first observation, which was not a positive note to start on. I composed myself then rang the doorbell, the gate unlocked and walked through the playground toward the nursery reception. I had been looking forward to this opportunity all day and finally the time had come. I was greeted by and unfamiliar face that introduced themselves as the manager, then I introduced myself. She asked me which child I would be observing and which room then she escorted me to the room.

I was asked to take my shoes off and place them on the shoes rack provide. We then entered the room and was introduced to the member of staff that was responsible for the room (whom I will be referring to as Miss Black and Miss Blue). The manager exited, I was then told there was a change of plan and the child I would be observing was pointed out. At this point a thought crossed my mind and wondered if parent\s knew I was observing their infant and why. Or maybe they were informed that student usually attend the nursery to conduct observation and have previously signed a consent form provided by the nursery.

She would pick up different objects shake them, then insert them into her mouth repeatedly, and sometime rubbing them against her mouth while open. The majority of the observation I watched Child A do this and realised that she may be teething. Then child in front of Child A took the rattle she was playing with and Child A started crying. Miss Black then got another orthopedic pillow to support Child A’s back and returned with more rattles for the infants. Then seemed content and started plying with the new shaker she had been given. Again Child A explored the shaker with her mouth then proceeded to shake it, which she did repeatedly. She seemed pleased with the noise the object was making and made noises to show her

Introduction: Child development involves emotional, physical, sociable, and intellect changes over a period from conception through adolescence. Childhood is a multifaceted process in which many changes occur. To fully understand the changes throughout childhood, one interview and observation was conducted to a toddler perspective, and a second interview and observation was implemented on a school-age child. Vast changes arise from infancy and toddlerhood, jumping to later childhood, and that was deceptive when comparing the outcomes from the two observations. Alex, who is eight years old, was the topic of the school-age child interview and observation.…

This observation helped me to learn how to observe and interact with young infants. This assignment also helped me to better understand object permanence. I found this observation very useful because in the future I plan to work in an infant room and it will be very important for me to know whether or not a child has object permanence knowing this can help me better understand where that child is at helping me create a healthy supportive environment that will benefit each infants learning experience. During these observations the babies became fussy why is unknown because we can’t ask a baby what is wrong so were they fussy because they knew their toy still existed and it was missing or were they hungry or tired, did they not like being around…

Spending two and half hours in each classroom, I learned a great deal about early childhood education from ages birth through eight, and the effort and skills that it takes to create a stimulating learning environment. For my infant, toddler, and preschool observations, I spent my hours at the CCC Childcare Center located in our college while for my kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade observations, I spent my time at Casey Park Elementary School. During my observations at the CCC Childcare Center, I learned plenty about the methods and practices that go into early education before primary grades. The preschool classroom really stood out to me because the centers in the classroom were very open ended and filled with lots of manipulative for…
