The chief complaint is the specified reason that brought the patient to the doctor. The chief complaint is the focus of a patients visit (American Academy of Ophthalmology, 2017). It is a problem that the patient is experiencing, which cause them to seek medical attention. Two example of chief complaint: Patient state “I have a toothache”. Patient state “My stomach hurt”.
