Examples Of Change In A Long Walk To Water

Decent Essays
Change is an important theme in the book A Long Walk To Water. The first example of change is when Salva thought to himself “ Where are we going? Where is my family? When will I see them again?” ( chapter two page nine) This is an example of change because before the attack, Salva had a family but, after he fled, he is alone, doesn’t know where they are, and has to survive alone. A second example of change is when he comes to America and meets his new family, his surroundings were different. The weather was very cold, all of the roads were paved, and all of the houses had electricity and running water. This shows change because where he lived in Loun-Ariik, all of the roads were dirt, there was no electricity or running water, and the temperature

Stories that made you look at our world and seem to think it was so astonishing yet so simple, that we were yet to create the futuristic tools books spoke of. Or that we were yet to find the magic that was hidden underneath all the layers of science. I was the only one in my family who had the love for the alternate realities that everyone spoke of. That was before my step father came in.…

Soldier on the Hill is a fascinating book created by Jackie French, dealing with several historical issues. The story revolves around Joey, a young boy, and his experience with the ups and downs of World War II. Jackie French shows various themes in her writing, this includes war, family and hardships, but the theme that intrigued me, and was shown the most efficiently, was the theme of change. I know for a fact that almost everyone has had incidents that relate to change much like the characters in Soldier on the Hill, and even I have a few myself. Change is something that everyone has experienced, whether it be something small as time passing by, or something much larger like moving countries.…
