Have you ever felt betrayed by someone you looked up to? Khaled Hosseini’s novel, The Kite Runner, has shown that betrayal has been present between Amir and Baba and also Amir Rahim Khan. Amir got successful in his life in America, he had a wonderful family and a wonderful job. Imagine how different things would have been if Amir knew that Hassan was his half-brother. Hassan might have still been alive if this little secret would have been told. Amir has been betrayed by different people in the book, causing him to have lived his life thinking he didn't have any siblings and never knowing the full truth.
There were many ways Amir was betrayed in the story, this is one of them. “He was married once before, to a Hazara woman from the Jaghori area. This was long you were born. Rahim Khan betrayed Amir and sent him on this journey to find a boy that he had just found out was his nephew. Truthfully getting Hassan’s child Sohrab was the least he could do for him. Hassan was treated like property his entire life. Even when he had escaped being a servant he still was treated like property. Hassan had a beautiful family and he didn't even get to see his child grow up. Hassan is a tragic hero because everything he did was always for someone else, he hardly ever thought about himself. Now that Hassan is gone it is Amir’s responsibility to help Hassan’s child. Rahim Khan was betraying Amir by telling him he had a family waiting for Hassan’s child Sohrab.
