Examples Of Beowulf's Loyalty

A strong epic hero who dedicates his life to saving people and keeping his king free from evil, an epic hero who demonstrates Loyalty or a strong feeling of support or allegiance. Although the author of this poem is currently unknown it is believed that it was written by monks. Throughout this essay i will talk about how Beowulf stayed loyal to his king and allies by completing and achieving his journey. To begin with, Beowulf proved his loyalty by accepting the quest to kill Grendel. He had heard that Grendel had creating a riot at Herot and he quickly demanded for a boat. " Greater and stronger than anyone anywhere in this world - Heard how Grendel filled nights with horror and quickly commanded a boat fitted out" (Beowulf 110) this proves that he is determined to complete his quest by not letting Hrothgar down. He arrives at Grendel's lair and they have a battle. The next day the highly terrified king Hrothgar tells Beowulf about both monsters and their underwater lair. Beowulf then goes to their lair and he swims for hours until he reaches the bottom and then fights the hideous monster which Beowulf kills " caught her in the neck and cut it through, broke bones and all, her body fell to the floor, lifeless." (Beowulf 754) this shows that even though the epic hero was caught in a huge burden he didn't let his king down by accomplishing his task, and who also took back the head of Grendel as a horrid
