Macbeth
In Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Macbeth sees an imaginary dagger and Banquo’s ghost to show Macbeth’s guilt and shame. In Act 2, Macbeth says that there is no dagger in his hands but because he is going to kill Duncan, he is imagining a dagger in his hands. He’s already feeling guilty for an act he didn't even commit yet. Macbeth states that “There's no such thing. It is the bloody business which informs thus to mine eyes”(2.1, 48-50). Macbeth starts talking to himself about how he sees blood on the dagger. He is turning crazy because he is scared to kill Duncan and get caught. His wife, Lady Macbeth convinced him that this would be a great idea because they would be able to rule.
