Headaches are normal pains in the forehead that many people get. They are usually caused by lack of food, dehydration, lack of sleep, or stress. Migraines, on the other hand, are intense feelings of pain that you feel throughout your whole forehead. They make the person dizzy and nauseas and just have an overall sensation that oneself is dying. It was 2006 and a school night at my house. “Mommy, my head hurts!” I complained. My mom, being the worrier she is, exclaims with fright “Did you hurt your head at recess? Honey, do you think she might have a concussion?” she asked my dad. My dad rolled his eyes at her. It was a long meeting between my parents, me, countless number of nurses, and the doctor. We discussed every little inch of my life; my diet, my sleeping patterns, my feelings throughout the day, the whole nine. “I drink a lot of root beer and soda,” I tell her. She stops me right there. “Caffeine. Your headaches are caused by caffeine.” I was prescribed my first medicine and put on my first diet. Cutting out caffeine only worked for a little while. I then went to my next doctor who prescribed me with a nasal spray I had to use right when I felt a headache. That did not last long due to the fact that I could not go down to the nurse whenever I wanted during the school day. So, then came the next doctor, and the next diet: not fast food.
