The sentry explains his experience on what happened during his time to watch on Polyneices body. He says everything in complete detail. For example how the trees vanished in the darkness of the dust storm. There was other details that made a reader think deeper. Once the dust disappeared, he saw Antigone next to Polyneices, watching him with the dust she put on before brushed off. Antigone looked like a mother bird come back to a stripped nest.
The first choice in the paintings was painting number 1. It because it seemed to fit the Sentry’s description. But of course it's not the perfect match because there is one or two small missing things that could've changed the whole aspect of the painting. There was not as much detail as the first painting but it's still workable. The first thing that shows up throughout the whole painting was just darkness. And yes the Sentry does say there was darkness but the specific source of light that is pointing at Polyneices does of course mean something just like in a book. But that is not realistic because there was no light when the Sentry was talking about the dust storm. The meaning of the light could be sign of the Gods, or other possibilities. Creon said that the body of Polyneices was being eaten by crows and dogs, and in the painting there is no sign of this.
The two paintings only have a few things in common. Both do show Antigone and have the dark area around her. Getting into specific details, in painting 1, trees are shown and as also the castle. The story does tell the reader that the Guards are watching and it was in an open field. Unlike painting 2, none of this is present. But Antigone is also covering herself which is also a big misleading mistake with the painting and the Sentry’s speech to
