Someone who helps you is better than someone who doubts you. In the novel Tangerine by Edward Bloor. Luis Cruz fits the mythological archetype as a mentor in three ways. As a mentor, Luis Cruz showed Paul not to be afraid of anybody, especially his brother Erik and to stand up for himself and others. At the end of football practice when they were leaving, Luis said, “which one of you is Erik Fisher?..... I think you are but, I think you aren’t manly enough to say so.”(Bloor 211). Luis is showing Paul with his own situation, to not be afraid of Erik. Luis’s tone is angry towards Erik for was angry for what he did.
