Natural Environment Teaching (NET) uses the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to teach in the natural environment (the real world). Some people that are not familiar with ABA would not find it weird to not teach a child with ASD outside of teaching them in a natural setting, but most ABA therapist rather not teach outside a controlled setting, to sum it up they are not comfortable doing so. This in my opinion will have some serious ramifications. An ABA therapist objective is to teach a child with ASD to "behave properly" or so it seems that is all an ABA therapist is really good for. A glorified babysitter some would say.…

Chicago school of Psychology:Applied Behavioral Analysis Why people act a certain way and what goes on in their minds has always intrigued me. I think part of that comes from growing up with an autistic brother who had very low verbal abilities. My first exposure to Psychology was in high school, at that point I had my heart set on fashion design, but I found the class fascinating and I kept that interest throughout college. I would take as many Psychology courses as I could for fun, and while my grades reflected more my inability to complete the readings and study rather than comprehension of the subject matter, I always felt like it was a science that I could easily understand. I ended up graduating with a degree in Theatrical Design which I proceeded to do nothing with.…

Science Education Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) interventions (EIBI, PECS, and Video Modeling) may seem to be utilized for improving behavioral, social, and communication skills, but, they can also be used for academic development especially science. For instance, since autistic students are considered to be more visual learners than auditory, then PECS and video modeling can be used for their education (Dettmer, et.al. 2000). However, due to the limited amount of research conducted towards science content, there is hardly any study that did research on science content using these ABA interventions. Nonetheless, it is possible to find experiments in studies that are similar to the ABA interventions.…
