In “The Count of Monte Cristo” to show ambition is to surpass all expectations of one's character actions. To prove someone's perseverance is to give them every possible way to fail and having them prove you wrong by succeeding. And finally by displaying one’s transformation is by showing what once was considered a norm for a person is now not. From the kickoff of the movie Edmond shows his ambition to get help for his fellow captain in need of serious medical attention. While going the extra mile, he risks his life on a small island “Elba” to seek support while doing so he gets in a intermediate battle with the Elba people and is “captured”. Following the altercation the captain receives medical help but only because of Edmond’s selflessness
