His heart beat at a rapid pace, a rushing noise in his ears like water falling off a cliff into the ocean; this was the only thing he could hear. It was surely his blood pulsing through his veins at much too rapid a speed as he chased his only brother. Running through the forest, Jephery could only think of the danger that pressing on his back, like a red hot dagger being pushed to the surface of his skin, but he did not look back. Fear pushed him after his brother. But ever step closer to his brother took him farther away from his mother and father. Every step took him farther away from the village he grew up in, the village that was now under attack by a group of blood thirsty raiders sent by the evil tyrant that ruled over his lands. Jephery only had one thought in his mind as he ran after his brother. ‘What about mother and father?’ But he couldn’t worry about that now; he had to catch his only brother before he could enter the forbidden cavern. The place his parents told them numerous times to never even come within sight of, but as children often do, they didn’t listen. They went to the cave all too often, wondering how such a meek looking cave could hold any danger at all.
