This story is a true example on how life really works. The allegory in this book displays that nothing can be done to prevent or change your fate. Poe uses different objects to come to this conclusion.. He uses the clock like a heart that is running out of life and only has so long to live. He incorporates people to represent ordinary people with fears, possibly in our own time. Finally, he incorporates the rooms in which each represents the different colors of the Circle of Life and the different stages of life. These elements blend and make different shades of brightness that shine in on us and reveal to us the true meaning of this story. The allegory of this story is what many people actually believe especially in a religious way. It shows that life has a certain time limit like a clock before it runs down or dies. Just like that clock we to only have a certain charge to our bodies and they can’t last forever. By going into that castle and hiding he was taking his fear of death and tried to escape it. The sad thing is that we can escape this fate, or hid from it because either way it will get to you. “The figure was tall and gaunt, and shrouded from head to foot in the habiliments of the grave. The mask which concealed the visage was made so nearly to resemble the countenance of a stiffened corpse that the closest scrutiny must have had difficulty in detecting the cheat. And yet all this might have been endured, if not approved, by the mad revellers around. But the mummer had gone so far as to assume the type of the Red Death.”Prince Prospero tried to hide and the Cloaked figure found him and killed him, showing us even locked doors and soldiers couldn’t keep the death away. An echoing message is shown as Edgar Allan Poe is telling us to face the Ultimate fate, because it can’t be avoided and death or whatever the end is, is going to happen either
