Most people try to run away from death . They believe that death is inevitable . In the short story , Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe , a prince named Prince Prospero believed that he could be saved from the plague by being locked away in his castle . Prince Prospero was happy and dauntless . All he wanted was to stay away from all profound bleeding , sharp pains and dizziness that was held outside of the castle . The prince summoned a thousand of his friends to party with him in his castle so they wouldn't be affected by the plague . The hidden message in Edgar Allan Poe’s allegory , “Masque of the Red Death ,” is you cannot escape from problems , no matter how hidden or locked up you are . The figure seemed to be holding a dagger , but as the prince approached the figure , the dagger fell . The prince had finally acknowledged the presence of the Red Death
