All men are created equal. Our forefathers wrote this as the backbone of our country. Racial prejudice in this country, however, did not include the black man in that equality. Equality should be found in the courts. The judicial system and humanity can lose the faith of the community by not producing a fair trial, displaying the essence of equality, and the goodness of the people who are a part of it. In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus in his closing statement argues guilt and innocence as black and white. When Thomas Jefferson wrote, “all men are created equal”, he faced opposition from the southern states. Over a century later, a black man still cannot get a fair trial. A jury is to be made up of your peers. However in the
