Walter Annenberg once said “ Adversity tests us from time to time and it's inevitable that the testing continues during life”.We all face adversity throughout our lives. Whether we let adversity promote us or devastate us remains unforeseen until the adversity occurs. After reading The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, I found out that Ponyboy, the main character from The Outsiders, and I struggle with the same adversity. Unlike others we let it promote us, not devastate us.
The main character, Ponyboy, faces so many different adverse situations. Ponyboy has had to live with the fact that his best friend died right before his eyes. He was the last one Johnny talked to. “Johnny said ‘Stay gold Ponyboy. Stay gold’”(Hinton, 149). You can tell that Johnny was his best friend because he decided to run

We both decided to just pretend it did not happen.Ponyboy and I face different adverse situation but we both choose to put all that emotion into our school work. Then we both decided it was time to stop acting like a little kid and get on with our lives. We both put that emotion into our school work to make good grades. Ponyboy called his teacher and said Mr.Syme, this is Ponyboy. That theme- how long can it be?”. He found it in himself to write a paper about what he faced. Over the years I have found myself writing this story over and over just never the same way. I have wrote this adversity I faced and didn't even know it was a adversity.

Now you know everyone, even the best of us, face adverse situations throughout our lives but how you approach it is the main thing. Many people choose to let it devastate them. When a person lets adverse situations devastate them it's normally by hurting themselves or mentally. Ponyboy and myself did not let it devastate us. We choose to let it promote
