Through Bromden's description of Nurse Ratched, Kesey utilizes machine imagery to demonstrate her power, authorities, and further emphasizes her difference when compared to other women. As Bromden was mopping the floor, he carefully observed Nurse Ratched walking into her office, “she’s carrying her woven wicker bag...bag shaped of a toolbox with a hemp handel”(4). Unlike other women whose bags contains “compact or lipstick or women stuff”(4), “she’s got that bag full of a thousand parts she aims to use in her duties today”(4). Her toolbox shaped bag symbolises that Nurse Ratched is different, she is unlike other women because at that time, women were powerless compared to men. However, Nurse Ratched is the most powerful person in the Ward,…

I worked in the biology lab labeling pelts, bones, and animal specimens; by twenty-one, I obtained my bachelor’s degree and strived for my first job out of university. That summer, I joined Humane Society Naples and worked as a veterinary assistant, while also volunteering at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida in wildlife rehabilitation. This is my turning point and reminds me of Claudia at age seven, who wanted to save animals. The most vivid and unforgettable part of my time there was seeing the transformation of the animal’s health and behavior. From the time, they come into the shelter, scared and sometimes in pain, to then being apart of the team to medically assess and treat them, to witness their ability to play with other animals, and then to the joys of adopters coming in looking for their forever pet, is…

The following paper will examine two instrumental therapeutic approaches from a Jungian perspective. The first is the use of drawings in play therapy and the second is metaphors and how they can be applied and useful in a therapeutic context. In my honors art three classes, one of the projects we were given challenged us to recreate a famous work of art. After several days of searching I had failed to find any work of art that jumped out at me. That is until I began looking at the mosaics, after searching for a few minutes I found an ancient Islamic mosaic on the side of a temple. Even though we were supposed to recreate the artwork using the same medium as the original artist my art teacher made an exception for me, considering tiles were rather impractical. So now facing the challenge of translating a piece of art from one medium to another I decided that cross-stitching the mosaic would be the best way to translate it.…

Paper 2: Three Adjectives I could think of at least 20 good and bad adjectives that could capture my personality and ideology but there are only three main adjectives that truly show who I am as a person. I consider myself ambitious because I have to succeed in almost everything I do. I am also someone who is very reserved, it takes a long time for me to get comfortable enough to share anything about my personal life. My favorite adjective to describe myself is creative because although parts of me are creative it does not mean I am good at drawing, painting or sculpting.…
