During that uprising the homosexuals rebelled because they didn’t want to be wrongfully attacked like that again. They fought to influence the people that they are no different from regular couples. By being different, they were attracting attention which led to the negative consequence of getting assaulted.
It is unlikely that Orwell’s theory on totalitarianism will occur in the future. North Korea and Iraq are two examples of totalitarian governments that exist in the present. However, it is unlikely for the United State of America to become a totalitarian because we have self-balancing governments that prevent one branch of power from getting too strong. If one branch gets too powerful, the people are able to vote to dismiss their leaders. This is similar to an act of rebellion because if the leader becomes corrupt we have the power to vote them out.
There is a reason why the novel 1984, by George Orwell is important in modern times. Orwell’s message was to inform us that being in a totalitarian government is a horrifying experience.
