Describe Your Social Class

Everyone is born into a social class, but it’s your own personal future that defines which social class you stay in. There are five social classes: upper, upper middle, lower middle, working, and lower class. Based on what social class you are in will define what opportunities you can participate in. The upper class is for the rich/wealthy individuals who considered powerful people. The upper middle class are those who are the highest earning middle class people they tend to make the most in the middle class but not enough to call themselves upper class. The lower middle class people are somewhat educated and have a stable job and make a decent living. Working class people are also known as the white collar workers. Lower class people are those who are at the poverty level. This class is reserved for the homeless and others who make little to no money. …show more content…
My father is a foreman and my mother also works at the same construction company as my dad as a secretary for the company. My father only completed high school and my mother only completed high school and achieved a little college credits before she gave birth to my oldest half-sister. My oldest half-sister completed a year and half of college but never went back. I also have another half-sister and she only completed high school. My younger brother right now is at a community college, he is working his way up to getting his associates degree. I myself am on my fourth year at California State University of San Marcos. I currently am going for a double major; liberal studies and sociology. I plan on graduating next fall with both degrees. When I graduate with both degrees, this will put me in an upward vertical inter-generational mobility. Thus, meaning that I will be changing my generation because both my parents only completed high school and never earned a degree, on the other hand, I plan on getting two degrees and possible moving up on the social
