Introduction: For my analysis, I decided it might be a good idea to try unplugging from my cell phone. The dates that I unplugged on for this assignment were from Monday, March 21st until Friday, March 25th. I monitored myself during the week before spring break from Tuesday, March 1st to Friday, March 4th. Since my phone doubles as my alarm clock, it’s what starts my day off, I also tend to read all of my notifications while waking up in the morning. Generally, I’ll wake up around 9:00 AM every day, my first class on Monday is Statistics and Probability for Engineers, and I’ll usually just use my phone the entire period. I understand it’s pretty rude for a student to do this, but I tend to actually understand subjects better outside of class, especially since this professor literally screams his lectures. But this week I wasn’t allowed to use my cell phone, because I …show more content…
To prevent the shaking I had to keep myself preoccupied, I was able to by taking notes until the class was over. It was interesting to see how my family and friends reacted and how their support differed individually towards me while unplugged. I didn’t expect my mother to call within the first day, but when she did I told her and the rest of my family what my assignment was about, they were understanding and wished me luck. I didn’t bother to tell my friends in our group chat, because we’re all separated around Michigan. Before the project began I had also mentioned it a few times to my girlfriend, however, she didn’t enjoy feeling like I was ignoring her texts and around the 2nd to 3rd day, this ended up causing us a fight. My hypothesis for unplugging is if I check my phone once every morning, then I can go about my daily routine without using my cell phone. Hoping that I would be able to have self-control without succumbing to temptation or daily boredom in my

The circle of feedback must have a strong allure because many of the students interviewed did show behavioral signs of addiction. For example, 60% of students said they felt uncomfortable when they were not in the presence of their phone. A common sign of addiction is when one feels discomfort or anxiety when their phone is not near them because it shows a possible dependence. This dynamic is similar to how a drug addict would feel withdrawal when they stop the intake of drugs. Another red flag is the random checking of a phone: turning it on or off for no reason; 85% of the students surveyed did this.…

Self-Reflection 2 Eliut Lopez-Enriquez Millersville University Moral distress comes in many ways to many nurses. My moral distress situation came about when an unresponsive patient came to the emergency room and the family had a Do Not Resuscitate/Do Not Intubate paperwork. I was the primary nurse; the house supervisor was present to ensure that the proper paperwork was at hand. After verification of the paperwork and talks with the family, the team stood by to ensure the patient no further suffering and no further distress felt by the family.…

After reading Chapter 2, Essentials of College writing I realized I am not consistent with how I memorize or gain a better understanding the reading material. I know that with my college work I must work on utilizing more aspects of the SQ3R strategies. In high school I have done skimming, highlighting the important facts and reading the chapter summary to get a general idea about the subject. If I had to write a paper about a book journaling and reflection would be something I would use to annotate big events or turning points in the book to later reflecting on the outcome of that event. I have also annotated some key information I had to know on post cards to study for my career development course in the Air Force.…

The content of your reflective journal entries is flexible in that there are many ways for you to show that you have pondered and thought critically about the reading. One approach is to base your entry on one or a couple of the Discussion Guide questions that correspond to the readings. Other approaches that may be applicable are: • If the reading reports an empirical study, then you could comment on methodological issues such as aspects of the study that might impact its internal validity, interpretability, or external validity in either positive or negative ways. You could identify the study’s strengths or weaknesses, ways to improve it, or avenues for future research that build upon this study. • Another way to reflect upon a reading…

This last journal will cover some thoughts that I had in the class after I wrote my reflection journal 2. There were many interesting topics we discussed in the class during this period but in this journal, I would deliver my experience and thought regarding to three topics, Diglossia, willingness to communicate and some thoughts about the process of writing my paper. I was introduced with the term diglossia by Marwa in her presentation and she consistently focused on this topic for her research paper. I realized that diglossia is possible to happen for any language where two varieties of the same language exist through out a speech community. Marwa gave example where the standard Arabic has higher prestige than Sudanese Arabic.…

Self reflection practices has been a integral part of my life in personal growth by learning about myself and prioritizing what I consider important. In my mid-thirties, I had a strong intuitive feeling that I was not living a fulfilling and purposeful life in accordance with my personal values. During this time I was working as an inbound customer service representative in a call center for a promotional product manufacturer. Although I enjoyed the daily interactions with customers via phone and the problem solving aspects of the job, it began lacking real tangible results that I would able to see in a face-to-face connection with clients. I had spent over ten years working as a customer service representative for various companies and never felt that this career path was in alignment with my life's purpose.…

Journal Reflection 4 3/19-3/23: This week we learned and talked about forgiveness in our relationships and how religion plays a part in that. This struck a cord in my heart because I think in four out of my five classes we discussed forgiveness all around the same time. So I was hearing all about forgiveness and my friend sent me an amazing video on why we should forgive. So it kind of felt like it was a sign from God and God using everything and everyone in my life to help me forgive. Forgiveness is definitely one of the hardest things I struggle with.…

According to Janesick (2011) journaling is a common practice among many professionals in differing fields, in addition to those writing in journals for leisure. The practice of writing in a journal could contribute to a number of attributes of a writer; specifically deepening ones self awareness. Hence, sharpening of ones own reflection, writing, thinking, and ability to communicate (Janesick, 2011, p. 154). I never thought of journal writing as a tool for research or scholarly writing, but when it comes to qualitative research, I can see how it could be beneficial. Qualitative research is largely based on the thoughts, perceptions, and beliefs of the subject under study; so in essence, when one is journal writing they are both the researcher and the one under study (Janesick, 2011).…
