It was a misfortune that we had experienced a bloody war lasted four years of time and cost us an astounding amount of the war debt. Fortunately, the Union’s victory has been assured. Now, our urgency is to reconstruct and unite our country at this tumultuous period in order to prevent further conflicts that would be more devastating to the US government. We want the works of reconstruction to be a short process in which the states could run smoothly again and the United Sates could exist as it had before. I, as a Republican congressman who concerns the future of our country, am here to propose a reconstruction plan that would effectively solve our issues. Now as the United States is separated into the Union and the former Confederate states, we hold different beliefs. There are still some Southerners who obstinately believe in slavery would be beneficial. This adds to the difficulty of readmitting the states. I do not acknowledge the United …show more content…
Together we are a union and together we are the United States. From the starting of our independence revolution, we were able to establish the government that is present today until the civil war, I believe that we can do this together. Rebuilding requires a lot of us. First, the money to pay the national debt would be paid off by the excess land in the south; However, farms and plantations in the South were burned down. The crops that were originally planted were all destroyed. There are no surviving sources that the freed slaves could afford. In addition to that, the Confederate states are defeated, the people who were using the Confederate currency are now worthless. The solution is to rebuild roads which increase the trade and transportation system. We need to rebuild farms and schools for the poor and black children. Hence the south economy will start running normally
