1. Is this study quantitative or qualitative? How do you know?
A qualitative research process involves the review of literature, collect and analyze data, studies findings, and derive conclusions that will have an impact on the nursing practice (LoBiondo-Wood & Haber, 2014). This article contains all the components above and uses a systematic review of numerous qualitative studies to gather word descriptive evidence that describes the transfer of knowledge between nursing shifts (Holly & Poletick, 2014). The aim of this study was to study the experiences of nurses during handoffs by processing information from interviews conducted with over 300 nurses. Data collected was broken down in an effort to understand the process experienced by nurses during handoff and it’s affect on improving quality and safety in patient care (Holly & Poletick, 2014).
