Every girl dreams about her first date from the clothes she’s going wear to hair and makeup but not me I was more into books and never really thought about dating or guys in general. Until I was eighteen just out of high school. I worked for a lawyer in Pocahontas Arkansas it was July Nineteen sixty-one. I had to take some papers to the courthouse so I decided to walk it a nice warm day and it wasn’t very far from where I worked.
The lawyer’s office that was located on the second floor of the Western Auto as I passed by what used to be Johnsons drug store know its Futrell’s Pharmacy on the corner stood a tall very handsome man and he whistled at me I looked at him and smiled and continued on my way to drop off the papers at the courthouse.

This time on my way back he stopped me and introduced himself and asked me out for that night I hadn’t ever thought about dating. I didn’t think it would go well I had seen my girlfriends go out and get their hearts broke I wanted to try and protect mine so I really didn’t want to go, but it was a Friday night so I said yes just to get out of the house he told me he would pick me up at 6 o’clock
