Example Of Personal Narrative Essay

I was raised in a military family, spending the first five years of my life at Fort Bragg, NC. It was early that I became a fan of Ronald Reagan and learned the value of sacrifice for Country. Naturally, after taking several history and college-level government and politics classes, I have decided to enter college as a Political Science Major with the intention of going to law school and one day running for office so that I may have an opportunity to reverse many of the detrimental policies enacted by our government today. I have written my vice-president and president about my concerns and (frankly) disgust at the prospect that we are reduced to socializing healthcare (a private industry), negotiating with terrorists, practically leaving our borders unprotected and open, and many other policies which further my drive to unite my fellow conservatives, and specifically young ones, to strive for the return of American values and policies which are ordained and intended by our constitution …show more content…
I am for our constitutional rights and I believe that we should be acting as the Constitution warrants. As I occasionally discuss current events and politics with my peers, I can typically floor the arguments of those who would like to think that they are “liberal.” After such debates, typically about the economy, I follow with advice to them in which I usually say “Capitalism is good.” I recently volunteered for a candidate running for my district’s HOR seat after my congressman of 30 years finally retired. Washington’s issues aside, I found excitement in an environment in which other people had the same drive and values as I did. I turned the experience into my Senior Project, the topic of which was Voter Apathy in the United States. After extensive volunteering, I took pride when I could say that I had a part in an election in which we put a “political outsider” pastor of 15 years into office with a district-wide majority of

Girls Just Wanna Not Run: The Gender Gap in Young Americans’ Political Ambition by Jennifer L. Lawless and Richard L. Fox Based on the results of a new survey of more than 2,100 American college students between the ages of 18 and 25 which assessed the likelihood of running for public office in the United States of America and the “gender gap in ambition”, Jennifer L. Lawless, Associate Professor of Government at American University, and Richard L. Fox, Professor of Political Science at Loyola Marymount University, discovered that men were twice as likely to report that they “definitely” plan to run for office than women whereas women were 50% more likely to indicate that they had “absolutely no interest” in a future candidacy, as seen in…

Young children are often asked what they would like to do when they reach adulthood, and most respond with “I want to be the President of the United States.” Though this career path is quite popular amongst a typical kindergarten class, in general none of these kids will pursue such as demanding and competitive position—persistence is a key element, and most people would feel discouraged in such a contest. One now may ask themselves: “What about the kids that are determined this is the career path for them and are willing to persist through the worst of times?” Bill Clinton is a perfect example of such determination: as a young child, he had the opportunity to meet President John F. Kennedy; this inspired Clinton to pursue a career in politics and work his way up to the top as the most powerful political figure in the structure of our national government. There is no exact formula that will guarantee the seat behind the legendary desk of the Oval Office, but becoming involved in politics and having a determined attitude are essential first steps.…

A People’s Politician Very few Americans will proudly say that they have had the dream of serving the American people in our nation’s government. For me, unlike anyone else, politics is not just my goal, but my dream. I have always lived my life knowing that no matter what the circumstance, someone doesn’t have all that they are entitled to in life. With that in mind, it drives me everyday to one day become a Politician who will become an advocate for the American people, a voice for freedom, and a philanthropist for humanity. Becoming an advocate for the millions of Americans in the lower classes of society who have felt the pain of poverty, the reality of racism, and the concern over their constitutional rights being stripped away amendment by amendment, would come with no easy responsibility.…

It was only recently that I have began understanding politics and how the government functions. My government teacher in high school helped educate me on different issues and court cases that have been exposed throughout history and with each subject matter, I began to develop personal opinions on what should or should not happen. Even though I grew up in a fairly conservative neighborhood with people who leaned right teaching most of my classes, I identified as a liberal. Reflecting back, I realize that, the parents that raised me, my personal background, and the people that I surround myself with are all factors that determine which way my political beliefs lean.…
