Operationalization
The variable that it is important to make community policing effective is the level of interest in crime. People in the community do not report crimes on a basis it happens. Citizens need to report crimes that occur, so that the police can make sure the neighborhood is safe. This variable will make community policing hard due to the police do not know what crime is happening. The people in the community have to speak up against crime, but some people are fearful of reporting crime. The study will become more difficult from unreported crime.

Although both communities are located near each other, there is huge differences between them. First of all, Little Village was mostly Hispanic while North Lawndale was primarily African American. I believe that it is much better when police departments work in conjunction with communities creating partnerships that would help the law enforcement to control crime in a much better way. When the community gets involved controlling crime, the results are more satisfactory and at the end are going to be beneficial for the police department and as well for the community. “In the 1970s crime control model was viewed as too abrasive contributing to high level of disaffection with local police” (Reisig 2010). According to Reisig various police and social control researcher…

If the community does not trust the police to protect them, then the police have no purpose. There are many success stories like the ones in Camden, Key West and McFarland, and they all vary greatly. The main objective is to restore faith between citizens and the police officers, though it may be difficult. Successful community policing also reduces crime because citizens are more likely to call upon the cops to handle situations. Without significant trust, there is a large strain on the community and more resistance is bound to occur.…

These traditional police-performance markers are likely not the best way to evaluate a community policing performance (Trojanowicz & Bucqueroux, 1992). Being proactive is important for community policing: law enforcement that uses community policing attempt to act on social problems before a crime has been committed. Traditional policing is known to be more reactive, whereby law enforcement respond when a crime has happened. When law enforcement does not address larger community problems, they will continue to have issues achieving their goals. The New York police discovered a connection between crime and disorder, understanding that drunks, gamblers, and sex workers can create environments that are likely to involve violence.…
