Example Of Narrative Report In Social Work

A. This week for the reporting period, I participated in school visits and home investigations with different social workers. I visited Oak Grove Elementary school with one of the social workers. We spoke with a nurse counselor concerning two kids who miss school consistently due to their mother keeping them out of school. I also had the opportunity to visit Horn Lake Elementary school, Youth Villages, Center Hill Elementary and Middle School, Pleasant Hill Elementary and Desoto Middle School. I also had the opportunity to go on a home visit as well. I had the chance to go to the courthouse to deliver important documents. I also went to Tyler’s closet with one of the Social workers aide to pick up pampers for foster children. Also one of our foster children attempted to kill himself this week and it was very unfortunate. Lastly I had the opportunity to be a part of a MAP team meeting. I learned a lot from my observations this week. I learned how to continue to talk to children in our custody and how to talk with parents and foster parents. I learned what a MAP team meeting consist of. I had never heard of that before but MAP is short for “making a plan”. The team is made up of individuals from local community agencies that work with children and youth. The purpose of this organization is to review cases concerning children with mental illness or who are at risk for an inappropriate out of home placement due to needed services.
D. We have always learned in our social work courses how to empathize with clients and how to know how to separate our feelings from the client’s needs.
E. Community resources that were used this week at the agency are safety plans for foster kids, and parenting classes for foster parents. The population at risk this week where children at risk of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Also MAP is a community resource that was used this
