a. My supervising teacher does an excellent job of creating a respectful environment for her students to learn. On my first day of being a teacher aide, the students were saying the pledge of allegiance. However, one student was saying the pledge of allegiance in a funny voice. When the class had finished the teacher stopped and said to the class that making funny noises and voices during the Pledge of Allegiance is disrespectful to our country, our classmates, and herself as a teacher. She did not point to the student and punish him in front of the class. Instead, the teacher used it as a learning opportunity to teach her class about respect and how it should be given to every person, and every job. My supervising teacher uses a common elementary school method for managing behavior, the clip method. The clothespin method in my supervising teachers classroom has a student 's name written on a clothespin. All of the pins are clipped to a piece of fabric with varying colors. Each day the student starts out on the color green, which is ready to learn. However, if a student misbehaves, for example, if the student continually talks while the teacher is talking they must move their clip down to the yellow. The chart goes from purple, which is the best, down to red, which is the worst. The clothespin method is very effective because the child must personally move their clip down when they misbehave or move their clip up when they are doing a good job. This makes the bad behavior resonate more and they will try not to do it again because they are embarrassed that their clip was moved. It also makes the good behavior feel fantastic because they can give themselves their own personal pat on the back by moving their clip up to either the blue or purple
