The human body is a well-maintained machine. It has to be taken care of in an adequate manner in order for it to work properly and stay healthy. Working out and eating healthy are two ways to help maintain a healthy body, there is more to it than that. The human body is affected by outside sources that cause the mental state of the body to become affected. When this occurs, the rest of the body can be affected. One of the main issues that people face with keeping the body healthy is stress.
Stress can be good or bad. Good stress is known as eustress and bad stress is distress. Eustress is stress that is beneficial when there is not too much of it. Eustress is stress that helps when there is a time crunch to get a project done or when there is danger. Eustress helps and like motivation in situations like this. It is when it is not used to motivate and becomes a continuous state of worry that it becomes a distress. Distress occurs when the chronic stress sets itself in motion and then becomes out of control.

Chronic stress occurs when stress comes into someone’s’ life and starts to spiral out of control. Research has shown that the brain triggers hormones to release when stress occurs. When those hormones are triggered, there can be a hormonal imbalance (Mercola, 2015). When the imbalance occurs, the body becomes affected in other ways. The imbalance wreaks havoc and causes physical problems with the body to occur. Stress can make the immune system less effective. When this occurs, people become sick. Over long periods of time when stress becomes chronic it can cause other health issues to occur such as, keep the body from fighting infection, increase chances for heart disease, osteoporosis, and autoimmune diseases (Wenner,
