The article is an ineffective piece of writing because Ann Coulter doesn’t use ethos to establish her creditably on the issue anywhere in the article nor did she she try to establish the credibility of her “evidence.” While she tries to break down the credibility and trustworthiness of certain news outlets, she nevers gives the audience a reason to trust her and believe what she is trying to say. By not doing so, she doesn’t give a reason for the audience to trust her or believe the “evidences” that she is trying to give.
Also, the article is ineffective because Coulter didn’t try to connect with the audience by using pathos or an appeal to emotion. While she tries to conjunct up feelings of anger, distrust and disgust towards “liberal media,” she nevers gives a valid reason for caring for the issue that she is writing about(which is unclear). By not doing so, the audience can have little to no reaction to her appeals to emotion and feel like the issue she is writing about is unimportant. One popular fallacy that Ann Coulter uses her article is an ad hominem. Some examples of an ad hominem is included in the lines “The most likely explanation is that the reporters and investigators are incompetent nitwits” or “Among the questions not being asked by our wildly incurious media.”While Coulter thinks that she is establishing her credibility by putting down other media outlets and the authorities, she simply comes across as arrogant and egoistic and alienating a portion of her
