Example Of Esol Intervention

I currently eighth grade Math and Algebra I Honors at a low-income school. My school is getting ready to close down to merge over to a nearby middle school that is Title I. We have one of the largest population of ESOL students as well as a large population of Special Education students as well. We have students who live in group homes, with foster parents, or with other guardians that are not their parents. We also have so many students who have taken care of younger siblings. My school has several students that tend to come and go throughout the year.We have students who are constantly coming and going which can be difficult.

When reflecting on the two or three examples of problems in my professional practice the first two that come to mind are student engagement and student motivation. Another problem in my professional practice is parent involvement. Our parents do not come to meetings or seem to worry about their students failing classes. …show more content…
I know that my students can do the work, but there is no motivation for them to do so. I feel like if we could change that or even help in some way, I would have less students dropping out at the high school level and more kids coming to school. I honestly do not know if this problem could be fixed or what research we have that is out there on this. I am curious to see what research is available and what strategies or interventions we could use possible for my very own
