I am currently an instructional assistant working at Wilder Elementary School in Jefferson County. I have been a teacher assistant for Jefferson County Public School for thirteen years. I have worked in many different grade groups. I worked with small groups of students who are struggling with reading and math. I am also learning and behavior self-contained assistant, monitoring students’ progress and behavior as a kindergarten, first, and second grade teacher assistant and in many different areas. I helped them learn difficult concepts. I worked also as a Science Lab instructor for three years. I supervised the success maker lab 2-5 grades and provide this technology-based intervention daily for students. In order to achieve these goals I plan to work as a team with the school staff, administration and parents to use their guidance and experience to grow in my own teaching style. I want my future student to be able to contribute to the content of the lesson through interaction and original thought, not merely completing an activity worksheet. I know that students need a positive motivating source in the classroom. Page diversity management theory, I plan to develop a relationship with my students that will emanate a caring, trusting and safe sanctuary from any negative outside influences. This relationship will also be conducive to an open exchange of knowledge based on empirical data, life experiences and hopefully a plethora of new technology. I do not want my students to view me as a one teacher; information should ebb and flow through all members of our learning community our classroom. I hope facilitate through initiating discovery and supporting the student through a struggle to explore solutions independently and in a collaborative setting.
