Example Of Cultural Encounters

There are many nationalities with range of cultures and civilizations from thousands of years ago. People have different beliefs, variant behaviors and different religions. This is called culture. It is something that is passed on from one generation to another. These are the certain distinct features that distinguishes one culture from another. It is the specific point of view, customs and beliefs that determine one culture from the other. It passes on through language, material objects, and daily rituals not genetically. For example it is found only in Asian culture to celebrate different events on marriage that is not found anywhere else. The topic of my discussion is about how cultural encounters effects people’s lives when they travel from their home town where they are born to other places with different culture.
The word cultural encounter means interactions between people belonging to diverse social standards be it be their language, or religion, their form of art or drama all comes under cultural encounters. Cultural encounters occurs in societies where there are people belonging to different cultures or mind sets and backgrounds. Naipaul “One out of many” we can use it as an excellent example for cultural encounters and hence explain the topic in a better way. This story is about an Indian man who works for a government employ, serves him but then his employ is being transferred to America. So in order to save his job Santosh the main character of the story thus the hero convinces his employ who takes Santosh with him after referring to the concerned government authorities. Santosh leaves for Washington with his employ joyously but this doesn’t last long. After entering the airport he faces derogatory looks from the airport official as well as on board by the
