Cornerstone was truly a rollercoaster. The first day I walked in saying to myself “ugh why do I have to be here?” Then as I started giving it a chance I began to realize how fun it actually could be. It was a very free. Where I could actually express myself and not feel ashamed due to the fact of it. Professor Harvey was truly a huge influence on why I liked the course so much. He always made sure his students payed attention to what he was saying all the time. He also tried to make every student participate whether they wanted to or not. He showed me that you won’t always get your way in life. You’re going to have to take the bull by the horns and take on the heat. He also showed me that you don’t always have to learn in a boring way. Things like lectures…yeah lectures. You can learn things by not even realizing your learning. Another thing I learned was that you have to learn to respect a person’s perspective; whether you agree with it or not. There are always going to be people with different mindsets. It teaches so many things you can use in other classes. It helped me build short term and long term goals. Like an example of a short term would be to get an ‘A’ on this paper; or even to pass my psychology final with a ‘B’. An example of a long term goal would be for me to get my Associate of Science degree in Radiology; with a grade point average of 3.75 or higher. It taught me to tell whether my goals were S.M.A.R.T Goals. I could go on with all I learned with cornerstone, but to future students taking the course it truly is a wonderful experience.
