Conformity is where a person or groups of people strongly believe in practicing and adapting to the beliefs of their cultural group for acceptance and prevention of social rejection or simply put the majority influences behavior. Conformity can also be simply defined as “yielding to group pressures” (McLeod, 2016). These are the people that work hard for what they want and are seeking out the “American Dream”. Conformists are law abiding citizens and believe in doing it the right way to get what they want out of life. They tend to change their way of conduct to meet the norms or standards. Stability is a characteristic for conformists. When it comes to forms of group pressure within this society it could be bullying, peer pressure, criticism, or teasing. A person within this group will blame themselves if they don't succeed. An example would be a lawyer conforming to wear a suit and tie for his attire in his profession.
