Example Of Cognitive Perspective Essay

Cognitive perspective is 1 of 3 psychological perspectives I selected as interesting from Unit 1. This perspective studies the development of memory, problem solving and the related behaviors. I recently read a quote from Word Press that said "If you don't like where your are, move. You are not a tree." This quote applies as a good example of someone who is not happy with their position at work. They only offer the minimum towards their performance and little motivation. The lack of effort could easily center around poor esteem and a belief they do not possess the skills to advance . This is one instance of cognitive perspective. Humanistic perspective is the 2nd of 3 psychological perspectives I selected as interesting from Unit one. Humanistic perspective brings the idea of humanism into reality. This study focuses on the fact that we are all human with the same basic needs and values. This does not change based on gender, race or ethnicity according to this study. A great example of this is if a tornado were to come through a town and hit one specific house. This perspective centers around the idea that ones actions are motivators rather than being driven by feelings. Mental illness is a product of learned stimuli like rewards and punishment. We learn behavior based on what our environmental exposure is and not innate behaviors. A great example of this perspective is the reward concept. If your child has been shown that in order to receive their school lunch, they must stand quiet and line up as a complete class, that is learned behavior. The child knows that standing in line and following the rules will then reward them with their lunch. If they are loud and playing with their friends then lunch will be held back or
