Example Of Circle Time Observation

The two-year-old room is a lot of fun. A lot of the things we are seeing this week is that same as last week, so there is something to be said about structure. Circle time is a consistent aspect of every day, or at least every day we are there. I have noticed that sometimes the calendar on the board is behind a day or two. So at least while we are observing, the teacher is doing those circle time activities. I am not totally sure what to make of that observation. I hope it is a consistent thing she does with the children even when we are not there. There was a really great circle time activity this week. The theme was pirates that day. There was a great pirate book about letters the teacher read with the kids. After that, she had a large bucket of sand for the kids to dig in and find “buried treasure.” This was an inside activity, which I thought was a little bold. Even though she had a drop cloth down under the kids, there was still sand all over the place. Also, some of the things she buried in the sand were plastic mardi gras beads and such. They were fun, but the kids kept wanting to put them on which meant she had to keep telling them no the whole time so they wouldn’t end up covered in sand. A few of them did anyway. …show more content…
One of the young boys was riding a tricycle around. Around the outside edge of the playground there is a sidewalk, but the main middle area is a raised, black rubber type material. The boy was trying to get his tricycle up onto the middle area, bit it kept getting caught up on the back wheels. When watching him, I wondered how long he would persist on getting the tricycle where he wanted it to go. He kept taking the same approach over and over. Finally, he moved to a different angle and was able to get it up where he wanted it. He persisted a lot longer than I thought he

These lifelong memories are formed every day for both children and parents alike at our trike park. Some of our more fortunate guests may be able to recall a memory like this as either a child themselves, or as a parent or grandparent watching the joy in the face of their family member as they rounded every curve with the enthusiasm to ride for hours. However, due to the current state of the trike park, this opportunity is one that we are unable to share with everyone.…

The classroom setting is for, four-year-old preschool aged children. The idea behind the preschool comes from Piaget’s theory that children learn by a process of adaptation, assimilation, and then accommodation. During the first step, they interpret new stimulation in ways that fit with what they already know. As the new information assimilates, the existing knowledge modifies and creates a better match. Lastly, the child’s understanding gradually changes from the interaction with the environment.…

When I walked into the preschool classroom, I noticed it was very large and very spacious which allowed enough space for each child. Natural light, provided there was no glare in the room, was able to help students learn more effectively. Upon entering the class, I quickly noticed all the children curiously turn to look who I was while they were having large group time for half an hour. During that time, they sang songs, had calendar time and the teacher did an overview of the day. I was very impressed at how cooperative they were for her.…

He did the following independently: walked up the steps, climbed the monkey bars, played hide-and-seek/tag with his classmates, navigated the sliding board stairs (went up and down), walked up the sliding board with his hands positioned on each side, climbed on the footstep climbing panel (located on the side of the sliding board), twirled around, flipped himself over the swing bar, and ran around/navigated the playground. He extended his hands to help two girls, who fell down, get up. He fell three times, and his classmates helped him get up.…
